Bech-Bruun Simplifies Email Encryption with Mimecast Secure Messaging
Law Firm Bech-Bruun Prepares for Proposed EU Privacy Legislation While Maintaining Efficient Workflows
Danish law firm Bech-Bruun is working with Mimecast to let its employees send and receive sensitive information easily via email.
With Mimecast Secure Messaging its lawyers can easily and securely share sensitive information with clients such as, health and insurance data and highly confidential stock exchange information, directly from their familiar Microsoft Outlook email client.
Denmark’s leading law firm, Bech-Bruun has more than 500 specialized employees using a mixture of PCs and company controlled iPhones and iPads.
Traditional Approaches to Encryption Were Costly and Complex
Previously, Bech-Bruun had used encrypted zip files for sharing highly confidential documents. This was not ideal as these files were often caught by client spam filters and were found to be difficult to open on smartphones and tablets. The firm had also experimented with specialist domain-based authentication systems such as SPF and DMARC but found them complex to implement and manage.
“Protecting sensitive client data is critical to our business but so is the speed and ease of which our lawyers can exchange information with our clients,” comments Stefan Winquist, CIO at Bech-Bruun.
“Many traditional encryption systems can create unnecessary obstructions to everyday workflows while trying to reduce the risk of data leaks. But employees now demand seamless security wherever they are and on every device. Mimecast Secure Messaging allows us to handle sensitive information via email with appropriate security and control without adding unwanted complexity.
Brand Confidence and Granular Control
Using Secure Messaging, Bech-Bruun’s clients can access messages via a secure web portal, fully customized and branded with the law firm’s name, colors and logo – helping ensure brand recognition and recipient confidence.
Mimecast Secure Messaging controls also allow senders or administrators to confirm message delivery, instantly recall a message, set message expiration, prevent printing of messages, or prevent replies being sent.
